Tradition Field lives!

New York MetsIt's back to the future in Port St. Lucie, as the spring home of the New York Mets will revert back to an old name -- Tradition Field -- after a naming-rights deal with Tradition Florida comes back for a second time.

The ballpark was known as Tradition Field in 2004-2009. The naming rights were then bought by Digital Domain. However, that firm entered bankruptcy in 2012 and the ballpark was known temporarily as Mets Stadium until naming rights were resold.

"We are pleased to resume our partnership with Tradition Florida," said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. "The iconic name is familiar to Treasure Coast residents and Mets fans."

"When people think about St. Lucie County and Port St. Lucie, the tradition of New York Mets spring training baseball comes to mind," said Tradition Florida's General Manager Jim Anderson. "We are proud to return the Tradition Field name to one of the finest baseball facilities in Florida, in the County and City that we are proud to call home. It is only appropriate that two of the area's most recognized brands are partners once again. This is an opportunity to affirm our long-term commitment to the community and it is reflective of the bright future we see for Tradition Florida and Florida's Treasure Coast. We are excited to continue the development and job creation in our region."

People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
